Freedom of Information: Right to know request:
Please provide quarterly information on applications for Electronic Money Institution status.
In particular, I would like a quarterly breakdown of:
- The number of applications for EMI status, and
- The number of FCA approvals for applications covering the period Q1 2023 to Q2 2025.
FCA response:
We can confirm that we hold the requested information which is set out in Annex A below. This includes all applications for both Authorised Electronic Money Institutions (AEMIs) and Small Electronic Money Institutions (SEMIs).
In reviewing the figures, please note that in some instances, the quarterly number of closed cases is higher than those received due to the timelines to assess and process applications.
