We can confirm that we hold the requested information, which is set out below. 

In response to question 1, to make clear, the Government’s Motor Insurance Taskforce was a cross-government initiative set up to understand and address high motor insurance premiums. It brought together several Government departments, including the Department for Transport, HM Treasury and the Ministry of Justice. While the FCA participated, it was only one part of a much wider, multi-agency group of stakeholders that Government invited to participate in this work.

As such, we have interpreted your request to mean formal external Motor Insurance Taskforce meetings attended by the FCA. To confirm, the Government Motor Insurance Taskforce met 3 times; in October 2024, April 2025 and July 2025. The FCA attended each of these meetings and published a report on its work for the Motor Insurance Taskforce in July 2025. The Motor Insurance Taskforce then published its final report in December 2025 and concluded its work.

In response to question 2, we have interpreted this to mean external engagement undertaken by the FCA as part of the review. To confirm, we have engaged with 20 different organisations/firms/bodies. Interactions were conducted primarily through information requests and meetings.

In response to question 3, we engaged with 12 insurers as part of the review and interactions were conducted primarily through information requests and meetings.

In response to question 4, we engaged with 5 trade associations/industry bodies as part of the review. Interactions were conducted primarily through meetings. 

For question 5 you asked us how many insurance brokers and intermediaries were interviewed. However, we can confirm insurance brokers and intermediaries did not form part of the review.

Regarding question 6, the Motor Insurance Taskforce operates across multiple Government bodies. The FCA does not have access to the total number of documents produced by the taskforce; however, we published a report in July 2025[1] detailing the findings and outcomes of the review.

In response to question 7 we can confirm that we do not hold any data in response to this question, this is because we do not formally track or record the number of hours spent on individual projects. Our system is designed to capture activity at a broader category level rather than logging detailed project specific hours, and as a result we don’t hold the granular data needed to answer this question.
