Freedom of Information: Right to know request:
- Please can you tell me how many firms the FCA has written to in 2024 about the turnover of their MLRO [Money Laundering Reporting Officer].
- Please can you tell me how many MLROs the FCA has interviewed as part of the SMF [Senior Management Functions] process in 2024.
In 2021 guidance, the FCA said it reserved the right to bring in MLROs for interview.
FCA response:
For question 1, we can confirm we have not written to any firms in 2024 about the turnover of their MLRO. We do, however, consider this factor alongside other factors as part of our continued and ongoing supervision of firms.
For question 2, we have interviewed 12 MLROs as part of the SMF process over the past 10 months (January to October 2024).
