Please provide data on the number of transactions of financial instruments reported by UK-based firms and branches over time (with ideally daily periods although this can depend on what is available/possible). I would ideally like data as far back reaching as possible, although I am under the impression that anything further back than 5 years may be difficult to obtain.

We can confirm that we hold the requested information, which is set out in Annex A attached. Annex A shows MiFID transaction reporting data volumes for trade dates between 22 April 2019 and 22 April 2024. We have deemed this to be the most relevant period to your request, as we archive data transaction reports for trade dates beyond 5 years.
