Information on WIFL whistleblowing reports 2021 to 2022- September 2022

Freedom of Information: Right to know request:

In accordance with the FCA's Information from Lenders (IFL) scheme, which allows lenders to report any intermediaries that they suspect of being involved in fraudulent activity, could you please confirm the following:

How many individuals have raised concerns about wrongdoing or malpractice (whistleblowing) in relation to intermediaries from April 2021 – April 2022?'
How many of the aforementioned concerns were shared on an anonymous basis?'
In respect of the above, please identify (if appropriate) how many individuals were found guilty of fraud offences, and for those found guilty please outline what these penalties were. (e.g. prison sentence, fine, professional dismissal).

Clarification: I would like to receive data submitted under the Information from Lender' (IFL) scheme by Lenders.

I am looking for data for the twelve months from the start of April 2021 up to an including March 2022.

FCA response:

1.How many individuals have raised concerns about wrongdoing or malpractice (whistleblowing) in relation to intermediaries from April 2021 – April 2022?

For the period April 2021 to March 2022, we received 175 Information from Lenders (IFL) submissions which firms have reported to us.

2. How many of the aforementioned concerns were shared on an anonymous basis?

Submissions on the Information from Lender forms are reported to us by firms. None of the submissions were made anonymously for the period specified.

3.In respect of the above, please identify (if appropriate) how many individuals were found guilty of fraud offences, and for those found guilty please outline what these penalties were. (e.g. prison sentence, fine, professional dismissal).

The FCA is not the lead prosecutor for fraud cases. This responsibility would principally fall to law enforcement agencies such as the Police, National Crime Agency and Serious Fraud Office. Therefore, we do not hold this information.
